Mel Fisher’s Treasures recently visited the Horace O’Bryant Middle School in Key West Florida. Miss
Smith’s 7th grade history class learned about a piece of their local history and about the sunken
Spanish Galleon, the Atocha. The kids were able to hold 400 year old gold bars and money chains
off of the wreck. It was nice to see that the history of the Atocha, beginning in Spain and ending
off the coast of Key West, kept their attention. But then again who isn’t interested in sunken treasures?
