Mel Fisher’s Treasures will be participating at this year’s World Sailfish Championship
Key West, FL January 29, 2010 – Mel Fisher’s Treasures is a historic shipwreck salvage company credited with discovering the most famous shipwreck in history, the Atocha, which is valued at $500 million to date. This Spring Mel Fisher’s will cross industries to enter the World Sailfish Championship Tournament hosted in their hometown of Key West, Florida.
The 8th annual World Sailfish Championship is to be held April 13 -17th and is one of South Florida's most prestigious sailfish tournaments. Mel Fisher’s will compete along with other elite anglers for $125,000 in cash -- including a $100,000 guaranteed first-place cash prize, a $15,000 second–place cash prize and a $10,000 third-place cash prize.
Fisher’s crew along with some of their able bodied investors will be put to work as anglers in the tournament as they attempt to out-fish the seasoned veterans during the three day tournament. The local crew’s knowledge of the water and weather patterns will prove useful in positioning the vessel in a good spot right off the bat as speed and agility will not be the Dare’s forte.
Any monies the Mel Fisher’s Treasures team wins in the tournament will go directly to funding their ongoing search for the Sterncastle of the Atocha and the remaining half of her riches.
